Since 2004, sustainable development has been at the heart of Val de Vie Estate. When Martin Venter purchased the farm on which he envisioned to build Val de Vie Estate, there were nine families working and residing on the land. The Val de Vie development company consulted with the families and offered them residence on either the estate or in Paarl. They selected to live near schools and other municipal services and were relocated to new homes in Paarl. The development company invested R7 million in this relocation and subsequent employment of some of the original farm workers, who still work for Val de Vie Estate to this day.
